How we write these guides
Who writes the guides, where the facts come from, and where they stop.
Who writes this
The guides are written by the team at Jazz that makes Handback. We are not a law firm, and nothing here is legal advice.
Rules on deposits and damage charges differ by country, state and contract. Where a guide names a rule, it links the source we used and says where it applies.
Each guide shows the date it was last checked. If a rule changes, we change the page.
Sources and dates
Every guide lists the sources it relies on at the end: statutes, government pages, regulators and news reports. Each guide shows the date it was last checked. Rules on deposits and card disputes change, so check the date before you rely on a deadline.
No affiliate links
We don’t take payment to mention a company, and there are no affiliate links on this site. When a guide names a rental company, it is because that company is in the news or in the source, not because anyone paid. The commercial relationship here is simple and visible: we make an app, and we would like you to try it.
Not legal advice
Handback is not a law firm. The guides explain how things usually work and where to look. For your own situation, talk to a consumer or tenant advice service, or a qualified professional.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix the page and change its date. If you spot an error, write to info@jazzgames.net.
On AI
AI tools help us draft and check these pages. Nothing goes up unread, every rule is checked against the source linked on the page, and any sentence we would not defend in an email is cut.
Handback keeps a record of what you photographed and when. It is not legal advice, and it can’t decide a dispute for you.
